Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia is a women’s professional golf tournament on the LPGA Tour. Now in its sixth year as it was played for the first time in October 2010 at the Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club in Kuala Lumpur (KLGCC), Malaysia.
Cancer Research Malaysia once again will be the charity partner for the tournament.
Cancer Research Malaysia will take part in several initiatives for fundraising during the tournament such as Konica Minolta’s Chip For Charity, Pink Saturday Ladies Lunch and Women with Drive Instagram competition.
The funding has supported several initiatives by Cancer Research Malaysia, including ‘More than a Mammo’ programme which has enabled more than 2,000 Malaysian women to receive a subsidized mammogram, ‘Patient Navigation Programme’ and ‘Pink Ribbon Clinic’ at the Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah in Klang.
As mentioned by Chief Executive of Cancer Research Malaysia, Professor Dr Teo Soo Hwang, talking to ParGolfMagazine:“Our partnership with the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia, together with the support we receive from the Sime Darby Foundation, has been a critical factor in enabling us to carry out important research. The LPGA players continue to be wonderful ambassadors for our cause and have been instrumental in helping us to break down some of the social taboos that come with breast cancer in Malaysia.”
