The Tunku Besar Seri Menanti of Negeri Sembilan, YAM Tunku Ali divides his time between official duties, non-profit entites and corporate boards. He was appointed as the Chairman of Cancer Research Malaysia, effective June 2022.

He is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Munarah Foundation, Chairman and Founding Trustee of Teach for Malaysia, President of WWF-Malaysia and a Trustee of Amanah Warisan Negara. He is also Pro-Chancellor of University Sains Islam Malaysia.

YAM Tunku Ali is Independent Non-Executive Chairman of Astro Malaysia Holdings Berhad (Astro). He also sits on the boards of Bangkok Bank Berhad, Columbia Asia Hospitals as well as several other boards in various fields.
