#CancerSurvivorsMonth: “They never gave up on me.”

“The journey was not easy. I had no food to feed my children. I was in financial crisis. I am illiterate.

I completed my cancer treatment because they never gave up on me. Their presence during the toughest journey of my life will not be forgotten till my last breath.

It was very difficult and there were more problems – I didn’t know how to go the government agencies, I needed food, groceries and financial support. They helped me open a bank account. They helped clear my name from being blacklisted for insolvency. They even attended my court sessions.

GOD was with me all the time – and he sent me the nurses.” – A cancer survivor

Through our Patient Navigation Programme (PNP), our nurses and navigators drive lifesaving action, resulting in an amazing 98% of patients completing treatment, thanks to PNP. By helping cancer patients in need overcome barriers to timely diagnosis and treatment, we could prevent half of breast cancer deaths in Malaysia.

This model support system has been replicated in 4 different states, as we work together with the Ministry of Health to improve cancer survival rates across Malaysia.
